The KEYS project team met in Dresden, Germany on September 22-23, 2022 to discuss the progress of the project and to plan for the next steps. The meeting was productive, and the team made significant progress on a number of fronts.
One of the key outcomes of the meeting was the agreement on the content of the KEYS toolkit. The toolkit will be an online resource that will help teachers develop the key competences of learners in a way that helps migrants successfully transfer from integration/language training to VET. The toolkit will include information on best practices, project results, models and methods related to supporting learners and developing their basic skills and competencies in language training/VET.
The team also made progress on the development of the learning portfolio. The learning portfolio will be a tool that will help migrant learners document their existing skills and evaluate their skills that need further development. The learning portfolio will be based on the content of the toolkit, and it will support learners to identify, evaluate, verbalize and further develop basic skills and key competences.
Finally, the team discussed the best practices and recommendations for stakeholders. The team agreed that they will produce a guidebook/booklet of best practices and recommendations for language trainers, integration trainers, VET providers and policy makers on how to deal with the challenges in the field of migrant education in terms of developing key competences, supporting learners in their educational path and smoothening the transitions.
The KEYS project team is excited about the progress that has been made, and they are confident that the project will be a success. The team is grateful for the support of their partners, and they look forward to continuing the work in the coming months.
